QR codes and table ordering

Generate and print QR codes so your customers can see the menu and order from the table at no extra cost.

Updated on October 8, 2026

With a QR code on each table your customers open your menu on their phone, with nothing to install, and if you allow it they send their order straight to the kitchen. Ordering from the table by QR code is always included in the base plan; the paid module is only for taking payment online and for home delivery.

Prepare areas and tables

Before the codes you need the tables:

  1. Create your areas under Areas and Tables → Areas (/admin/areas) with Add Area: Terrace, Main Floor, Bar. Inactive areas are not shown in the point of sale.
  2. Create your tables under Areas and Tables → Tables (/admin/tables) with Add Table: Name (Table 1, T1, Bar 1), Area and Capacity.
  3. Draw the floor plan if you want. In Table map (/admin/tables/map) press Edit Floor Plan to place areas and tables by dragging them and pick their shape and color. The map shows in real time which tables are Available, Occupied or Needs Attention.

Turn on ordering from the menu

So customers can order, and not just browse, an administrator turns on Enable Online Ordering in Settings → Payments, under the Online Ordering section. Without this option the public menu is browse-only. You do not need to connect Mercado Pago for table orders: they are paid at the restaurant.

Also check the Online Ordering hours in Settings → Hours: outside those hours the menu shows Ordering unavailable right now.

Generate the QR codes

There are two ways to create them.

One QR per table. Open the table under Areas and Tables → Tables and in the QR Code section press Generate QR. There you choose the QR behavior:

  • Order from the table: guests add items and send the order to the kitchen; they pay at the restaurant.
  • Browse menu only: guests can browse the menu, but a waiter enters the order.

You can link a Custom menu so that QR shows only part of the carte, for example the bar menu.

All codes in one place. In QR Codes (/admin/qr-codes) you see every code in the restaurant, with its Scans and Last Scanned. Add QR Code creates a general one, with no table, or one with a Linked Table (optional) and a Custom Menu (optional).

A general QR, with no table, works for the counter, the door or your social media: it opens the full menu without preselecting a table.

  • From each code: Download (PNG or SVG), Copy link or Print.
  • All together: in QR Codes press Print QR Codes, choose the Columns and send the sheet to any printer. Each code comes out with its label and the line Scan to see the menu.

If you regenerate a code, the previously printed QR stops working: print it again.

What the customer sees

The QR opens lacomanda.io/menu/your-restaurant; if it is linked to a table, the table is already selected. The customer sees your carte with the template, logo and cover you chose, with photos, descriptions, modifiers and combos, and the Open or Closed status according to your hours.

  1. Add dishes with Add to cart, choosing their options.
  2. Review Your Order and press Checkout. They can type their name and phone, both optional, and notes for the kitchen.
  3. Confirm with Place order. They see their order number and the Order Status screen, which updates on its own as the kitchen progresses.

If they want something else later, the menu shows Orders at your table with the Add items option, so no second bill is opened.

How the orders arrive

QR orders enter the same flow as point-of-sale orders: they appear on the kitchen display and under Active Orders with the Online order label and their table. Staff charge them like any other order, following Charge a bill.
