Take table or counter orders, add modifiers and notes, and send them to the kitchen in rounds.

Updated on October 8, 2026

An order in La Comanda always follows the same path: you choose where it goes (a table, the counter or an open tab), add products, send it to the kitchen and, when the customer is done, charge it. Here is the full route in both point-of-sale views.

The point-of-sale tabs

The point of sale has four tabs: Tables, Menu, Kitchen and Tabs. In the Server view they sit in the bottom bar, within thumb's reach; in the Classic view they are next to the catalog. You switch views with POS view in the header.

  • Tables shows the floor plan with each table's status and active orders.
  • Menu is the catalog, with search, categories and favorites.
  • Kitchen is the same kitchen display, to follow orders without leaving the point of sale.
  • Tabs gathers the open tabs that carry over between shifts, for example hotel guests.

Table order

  1. Open the Tables tab and tap the table. Areas (Terrace, Main Floor, Bar) filter the floor plan; All shows them together.
  2. Press Open Table. You can enter People and a Comment. If the table already has an order, you will see View Order and Add Order to open another one on the same table.
  3. Add products from the Menu. Type in Search products..., switch category or use the Quick access bar with your favorites. Products marked Sold out cannot be added.
  4. Choose the product's options. If the product has modifiers, the Select options for this product window opens. Groups marked Required need at least one option. Under Item notes you write instructions such as "No onion, extra spicy" and confirm with Add to order.
  5. Review the Current Order. There you adjust quantities, remove items and, if needed, add Special instructions for the whole order or a discount with Add discount.
  6. Press Send to Kitchen. The order appears immediately on the kitchen display and, if you have auto-print on, the kitchen ticket comes out.

Does the customer order something else later? Open the order, press Add More, add the products and send with Send New Round. The kitchen sees the new round marked apart from the original.

Counter order

From the Menu tab, add products directly to the Current Order and, in the selector at the bottom of the cart, choose Counter instead of Table. If the order belongs to an open tab, choose Tab. After that, Send to Kitchen works the same way.

You can link a customer with Search customer, useful for takeout orders and to keep their history, and charge something that is not on your carte with Custom item.

If your business does not use a kitchen display

When Kitchen view is off in Settings → Point of sale, the button says Open Order instead of Send to Kitchen, no kitchen tickets print and the order goes straight to delivered; the rest of the flow is the same.

Active orders and pre-bill

The View Orders button opens Active Orders: every open order, with its table, status and whether it Needs payment or is Paid. Orders that arrived from the QR menu carry the Online order label. From there you can select them, cancel them or press Print pre-bill so the customer can review before paying.

Next step

When the customer asks for the bill, follow Charge a bill.
